What Are You Waiting For? Get Fit Today!

By Dr Pj Prakash

Ready to begin with your own fitness routine? Do you know where to start or how to begin? Do you know what routine will work for you and your goals? If you have no clue how to answer these last couple questions, the tips that are listed below are for you.

A good idea to lose weight is to join a recreational sport. Cardio can be very boring and a lot of people loathe the idea of running in place on a treadmill. Joining a recreational sport will keep things interesting and you'll also be burning a lot of calories in the process.

Grow your own garden. Starting a garden requires a lot of hard physical work. You have to dig, plant, weed, and move a lot in order to maintain a home garden. You can garden to help you burn a few extra calories a week, or you can think of other simple tasks to complete around your home.

If you are a woman and uncomfortable working out in front of men, check out the many new chains of female-only gyms. Many women are self-conscious of their image, especially those who may be just beginning to take fitness seriously. It can be intimidating to go to a gym filled with the opposite sex. By keeping groups small and female-only, many of these new gyms are perfectly suited for a woman starting out on her fitness journey.

One of the most underrated aspects of fitness is a good nights sleep! If you are not well rested how can you ever expect to be motivated and energetic enough for your workout the next day? It also is known by too few individuals that you actually burn calories while sleeping, in fact more so than you do watching television!

To become more limber, hold stretches for at least 60 seconds. Stretching your muscles longer helps them to become more pliable. Try holding a stretch as long as you can without it being painful. After just a few days, you should notice an increase in flexibility. Be sure to stretch your body all over for the best results.

When strength training or working with weights, try to keep your daily workout under 60 minutes. After an hour, your body responds to strength-building exercises by producing excessive amounts of cortisol. This hormone can block the production of testosterone and may actually impair the body's ability to build and maintain muscle.

As you begin to recover from a painful muscle injury or strain, gradually increase the intensity and duration of your recovery workout rather than jumping right back into your previous workout routine. After each workout, apply ice to the injured area for half an hour, then repeat the process with added intensity the next day.

when in the gym, you can save more time by only resting when you need to. You shouldn't need to doing early sets as your muscles are just warming up. As your routines progress just rest as you need instead of wasting a set amount of time which you may not even need to use yet.

If you injure one of your body parts, you should not stop working it out, but instead continue to work it out. For example, if you injure your right leg, you should continue to work out that leg because some of the strength will actually be transferred to the leg not working out.

Do you know how to begin your own fitness routine now? Can you now find a place to begin with it? Do you know what will work for you? If you can now provide an answer to these questions, then you have read and understood the previous tips and are ready to make fitness work for you.
