For the last few years we have all seen the inflatable tunnels used by mostly American football teams. They are usually places right by the stadium tunnel exits and situated with fog and smoke machines and for night games, sometimes laser machines as well. The players then exit the tunnel onto the field of play and the crowd goes wild.
There are many soccer teams across the Atlantic that have started using these as well. These tunnels are a great way to impress the fans and bring about a rush of team spirit. When fans see the giant Lion head that is meant to represent their team sitting on the field and smoke and fog start rushing out of the mouth they get so exited they can barely contain themselves.
The players all say the same thing. They prefer running out onto the field through them as well. The players all love running through them. It is what they have wanted to do since they were kids. Of course this method of entering the field has not been around too long, but the players are not all that old either.
No pizazz. Ever since teams have started to use these inflatable tunnels everything has changed. Fans get riled up before anything even happens on the field. It can and has been said that these tunnels are the ultimate expression of the teams pride. The players have even taken to coming up with their own ways of exiting these giants.
So far only the pros, college, and some semi-pro teams have used them. But they are being considered for various other levels as well. They are even considering using them for professional hockey teams. Even though the ice might propose a problem, the biggest issue is that they do not have enough room because the player enter the ice from the short side of the rink.
Even without hockey, these are being utilized in every other sport. There have been some that have been purchased for little league teams and they are considering using them for the Little League World Series. If that happens it would be amazing for those kids to run out from inside the giant tunnel. They would love the experience.
Anything that can be done to add more flair and showmanship to professional sports is always worth trying. This is such a simple way to do that and it does not take away from the game in any way. The best part of this is maybe the logistics of it all. They are inflatable, so once they are done being used it is a simple deflation and pack job.
